Dear Parents,
Welcome, we are so pleased you have chosen St. Mark’s Preschool for your child this year. Can you believe it is time to think of a new school year? It feels like summer just started.
As we gear up for this year, we want to share some big events. The first event is Parent Orientation Night Wednesday, September 2 at 7 pm in the Church Sanctuary. As this is a parent only event, please make plans for your child(ren). This will give you time to talk with your teacher and gather important information needed for the school year.
The second big event is our Children’s Open House on Thursday, September 3rd from 10:15-12:00 pm. Your teacher will send a letter with your child’s time to attend. There will be no carpool drop-off or pick-up during open house. We ask parents to drop off their children in their classrooms and join us near the gym for refreshments. Toddler and two’s parents may stay in the classroom.
The next big event is the first day of school. Our twos and toddlers will have staggered entry the first week of school. This helps with their transition to school. Your teachers will have your child’s assigned day at orientation. If you are in a 5-day class, 4-day class, or Tuesday/Thursday three-year old class your first full day is Tuesday, September 8. If you are in a 3-day class, your first full day is Wednesday, September 9. As always, please call if you have any questions.
We are seeking volunteers. A successful school year can only run with your help. We need one to two parent volunteers per class and one parent to head up our Room Parent program.
Your first tuition payment is due by August 5th late fees will apply after August 15th. You may mail to 4801 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.
Automatic draft will post Monday, August 5th. It is scheduled for the 5th of each month unless the 5th falls on a weekend or holiday, then it will post the next business day.

Notes and Reminders
- Class lists will be posted August 12 outside the office side of the school building.
- If you have applied for a scholarship and are on auto draft, you account will NOT be drafted until the board approves your application in our August meeting. If you have applied for a scholarship and are not on auto draft, please wait to pay until you are notified. There will be no late charge.
- If you participate in flex spending at work, please fill out the flex spending form attached with this letter and return it to your classroom teacher.
- We are having coffee in the rotunda between the old and new wing during Open House. We need parents to help with this event, please call the school office at 787-1832 x16
- Calling all parents interested in earning extra money.
- We need parents interested in substitute teaching. Sign up will be in the office. A background check is required. Teaching assistant subs will get $35 per day and lead teachers will get $40.
- Please remember to link your Harris Teeter Vic card to St. Mark’s. Our number is 3167 and save your box tops!
- The school day runs from 9:15-12:15, please make every effort to be on time. It is unsettling for children to be late. All doors except the front office door are locked at 9:20. Thanks.
- Please do not enter your child’s room until 9:10 as this is valuable time the teachers need to start the day.
- Your teachers will check all of your records and let you know if you are missing information at parent orientation, including medical forms.
- Remember children must be fever and throw up free for 24 hours. This is extremely important to protect other children in the classroom and our wonderful teachers. Please call the office by 10 am if your child will be out sick.
- All threes must be potty trained. We will work with you at the beginning of the year, no pull ups allowed for threes.
- Teachers will send out postcards to students the 3rd week in August. The office will resume normal hours August 18th.
- Lunch bunch sign up will be the week of Tuesday, September 8, before and after school. A child must be in our 3’s, 4’s, or transition class and potty trained. The fee is $18 per number of days your child attends per month, except December which is $9.00 per number of days your child attends that month. There are two payments collected for lunch bunch, one in the fall and one in January. Every child already in lunch bunch is guaranteed their spot in January. You may add your child throughout the year, but must pay in full the amount due at that time.
- Lunch bunch begins Monday, September 14th. Please send a nutritious lunch with your child, no soda or fast food.
- Carpool will begin Tuesday, September 8. We encourage all to participate in our carpool program, as it is safer for the children. The only exception is our toddlers who MUST be walked to their class each day.
- Early arrival begins Monday, September 14th at 8:30 am in the school gym or outside, weather permitting. The cost is $3.00 a day or $5.00, if two or more of your children attend. If you are interested in working early arrival, you earn $10 a day and your child can attend free, please stop by, call or email the office at 787-1832 x16 or psdirector@stmarksraleigh.org.
St. Mark’s United Methodist Church offers Service of the Word every Sunday at 8:30 am and 11:00 am. All are welcome. If you would like more information on the church call the church office at 787-0544 or stop by after you drop off your child.
