St. Marks Summer Youth Programming

VBS

VBS will be the week of June 14th through 18th with Decoration Day being on Saturday June 12th.  As we have done in the past we will offer activities for each day after VBS.  Here is the schedule for after VBS activities. 

 Monday – (Bring your Lunch)  Hang out in The Way Station

Tuesday – (Bring Money for Lunch) Walk to North Hills / Movie

Wednesday – (Bring your Lunch)  Community Service Project at the Church

Thursday – (Bring Money for Lunch) Walk to North Hills / Movie

Friday – Party after VBS!!!!

 Please let me know if you plan to attend these days. You must help with VBS if you are going to participate in after VBS activities.  You must be picked up by 5:00 pm each day.  Also if you plan to help with VBS and haven’t let me know yet please contact me immediately.  Thanks.   

Feed the 5000

This summer we will have 2 Sunday night youth group events.  On these nights we will be working on the Feed the 5000 program. The meetings will start at 6:30 pm and go to 8:30 pm.  Dinner will NOT be provided.  These will be planning sessions as we plan out how we want to raise over 5000 non perishable food items.  The Feed the 5000 event will be held over a weekend in October where we will have an overnight like the 30 hour famine.  All youth and parents are welcome to attend these meetings and help with the Feed the 5000 program.  These meetings will be held on:

July 11th and August 1st

6:30 to 8:30 pm

Dinner and A Movie

On Sunday night July 18th starting at 5:00 pm we will have a family Dinner and a movie night in Owen Hall.  Bring your lawn chair, blanket, bean bag, sleeping bag, whatever makes you comfortable and join us and others from the church for Dinner and a Movie.  More details will follow, but please put it on your calendar and plan to attend.

Fridays 4 Jesus

 What Are Fridays for Jesus?  Fridays for Jesus consists of a worship service followed by fellowship time throughout the facility.  Worship is both Adult driven and Youth driven.  It provides youth the opportunity to express themselves.  After the Worship Service the Youth Hallway as well as the gym will be open for fun and games.  We will have ping pong, video games, movies, basketball, volleyball, board games and snacks.  There will be plenty to do!

The program runs for 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. 

You must attend the worship service at 7:00 pm in order to attend the rest of the program.

Our dates for Fridays for Jesus for this summer are:  

 Friday, June 11th  Friday, July 9th  Friday, August 13th

Youth Group Beach Trip

 When: July 25th 6:00 am – 9:00 pm

(We may get back before 9 but we are leaving at 6:00 am!)

Cost: $15.00 a person (Includes Lunch) 

  (Need Money for  Breakfast and Dinner)

Where:  Wrightsville Beach, Wilmington, NC

What:  On Sunday July 25th, we will go to the Beach for the day.  We will start with a worship service on the beach, followed by fun in the sun! 

The registration Deadline is  July 11th.  Due to setting up transportation, there will be no late registrations accepted.

Busch Gardens Trip

 Where:  Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, VA

 When:  August 6th –8th.  Our departure time on Friday will be based on who signs up.  We will wait till later if we have youth that are in year round schools, or chaperones that have to work.  We will return Sunday around 6:00 pm

 Cost:  $95.00 a person  (You will need extra money for 2 lunches and 2 dinners. Please note that 2 of those meals will be in Busch Gardens which will be expensive.)

The trip will consist of us going to Busch Gardens.  We will stay at a hotel in Williamsburg and go to Busch Gardens all day on Saturday.   We will spend 2 nights in a hotel.  You will need extra money for food.  The deadline for the trip is July 11th (Payment is due on the 11th) . Due to reserving of the hotel and ordering of  tickets, there will be no late registrations excepted.  In order to get the best price, we need to have 15 participants. Adults and Families are welcome to attend.

Parents Please Read!

Parents,

 The summer activities are listed in this newsletter.  Please look through it and let me know if you have questions.  All deadlines must be met this summer.  I will be unable to add people at the last minute to trips, so I need to know by the deadline whether your youth(s) or yourself will be attending.

 Please mark your calendars for a Parent meeting that will be held on Sunday, August 15th from 6 to 8 pm.  Dinner will be provided.  This is very important so that we can go over the upcoming year’s calendar as well as talk about communication.  It is very important that we have representation from at least one parent for each youth in youth group.
