There are many wonderful way to be involved in the Worship Ministries at St. Mark’s. Please prayerfully consider if one of these opportunities would be a good place for you to serve. If you have any questions or would like more information – please contact Director of Worship & Music, Julie Gibson.
Greeters: The greeters at St. Mark’s are the first to welcome friends and guest with radical hospitality. Greeters usually serve on a week by week basis arriving 15 minutes before our 8:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. worship services. Greeters may also serve at special services, like Christmas Eve and our Holy Week services.
Ushers: Our ushers help folks find their way around the church campus, lead us in the movements of our worship services, and are there to help answer questions and provide assistance. Ushers serve on teams for one month, two times a year. There are different teams for the 8:30 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. services. Ushers may also serve at special services as well as funerals/memorial services.
Acolytes: Acolytes carry the light of Christ into the sanctuary as we begin worship, and carry the light of Christ out into the world at the end of our worship serve. Acolytes may also help with Communion. Our acolytes ministry is for children in 3rd grade and up. They serve week by week at either the 8:30 a.m. or the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Acolytes may also serve at special services, like Christmas Eve and Holy Week.
Crucifer (Cross-Bearer): The Crucifer carries the Processional Cross into the sanctuary at the beginning of our worship services, and carries the Cross out as we follow Christ into the world. The Crucifer serves week by week at either the 8:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. worship service.
Communion Servers: Communion Servers help the Pastors in distributing Communion to our friends and guests. They assist week by week. We currently serve Communion every week at our 8:30 a.m. service; and on 1st, 3rd & 5th Sundays, as well as special seasons of the church year, like Advent and Lent at 11:00 a.m. Communion Servers may also serve at special services throughout the year.
Altar Guild: The people who serve on Altar Guild take great care in setting the Altar for the celebration of Communion, make sure that the paraments reflect the season of the church year, and help set the sanctuary for special service. The Altar Guild is divided into teams that serve for one month at a time, two to three times a year.
Media Team: The Media Team is made up of two different areas: audio (sound board) and visual (computer). The Media Team monitors the sound board and by runs the slide presentations used in worship. The audio and visual team members serve week by week at 8:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. The Media Team may also serve at special services, as well as funerals/memorial services, and other events.
Chancel Choir: The Chancel Choir helps lead the congregation in worship, and offer gifts of music in praise of our God. The Chancel Choir is open to all adults – no audition required. The Chancel Choir sings regularly at the 11:00 a.m. worship services, and occasionally at the 8:30 a.m. worship service. The Chancel Choir may also sing at other services throughout the year. Rehearsals are on Thursdays, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in the Choir Room, underneath the sanctuary.
Bell Ensemble: The Bell Ensemble offers gifts of music in our worship services, four to five times a year. Rehearsals are on Mondays, 6:15-7:15 p.m. in the Choir Room, underneath the sanctuary. No audition required.
Ladies Ensemble: The Ladies Ensemble offers gifts of music in our worship services, four to five times a year. It is open to all ladies – no audition required. Rehearsal is Sundays, 4:45-5:45 p.m. in the Choir Room, underneath the sanctuary.
Liturgical Dance Ensemble: This is a new ministry at St. Mark’s. The Liturgical Dance Ensemble will offer expressions of praise through movement in our worship services several times a year. Rehearsal times will be determined by the group.
Drama Team: This is a new ministry area at St. Mark’s. The Drama Team will support the message and themes of the church year through dramatic readings, short skits, and plays. Rehearsal times will be determined by the group.
