We are a Christ-centered community of faith committed to living out the core value of Intentional Worship (Colossians 3:1-17) for the transformation of the world. Worship serves as the focus of our community life.
Worship is at the core of forming, shaping, and guiding us for mission and ministry in the world. Gathered in worship we sing praises to God, we share our common joys and concerns, we pray for the world and all its peoples, we engage as the Word of God is read and proclaimed, and then we respond by going forth to serve our community and God’s world.
Currently, our worship is traditional in nature. Our clergy are robed in white albs and wear stoles as a reminder of the call to servant ministry among God’s people. We actively and joyfully make use of United Methodist Liturgy but also draw from the wellspring of best practices dating back to the early church.
We sing from the United Methodist Hymnal and also draw from The Faith We Sing songbook and are beginning to add in other resources from around the world.
St. Mark’s is exploring the possibility of adding a third alternative styled worship service that would more than likely draw from and upon the music and liturgies of The Upper Room Worshipbook recently released by The Upper Room in Nashville Tennessee.
Worship is alive and vibrant at St. Mark’s. It is the crucible where disciples are formed, shaped, and then sent out to serve. Come join us but come ready to have God transform your life in ways you might not even begin to be able to imagine!
