We are preparing to renovate our playground area. Here is everything you need to know about it!
Why?
At St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, an important part of our mission is ministry with children and families. A playground (park) is a key to creating a positive environment for the children in our care. Our plan is to update and upgrade all areas of the park and surrounding areas to create a safe, inviting and welcoming park for the children and families of St. Mark’s UMC and Preschool.
When?
We anticipate starting the renovations to St. Mark’s Park in the summer of 2011. Actual start of construction depends upon raising the necessary funds needed to complete the renovation, as well as coordination with the overall sanctuary renovation project.
How?
Through our collective efforts. Our combined input toward the project will drive the success of St. Mark’s Park. Construction will require funds for the purchase and installation of the park. Our budget for construction is $78,000 – a reasonable budget considering the size of the area to be renovated, and the scope of the work to create an inviting play area for nearly 170 children playing 5 days a week. We are excited to tell you that we’re 25% of the way to the budget – due to a generous donation by one of our preschool families and funds contributed by the preschool itself. So far $20,000 has been committed to the park renovation fund!
Who?
All of us. Everyone will have the opportunity to assist in this project – not only by providing financial assistance, but also by providing our time, material donations, and even a good strong back for labor to help build the project. The success of St. Mark’s Park depends on all of us in the St. Mark’s family, including the preschool families and church congregation.
